રવિન્દ્રનાથ ટાગોર અને Mariah Carey - બે ગીત, બે સંસ્ક્રુતિ, એક આત્મા
આ બન્ને ગીતો મારા અત્યંન્ત ગમતા ગીતોમાંના એક છે. જ્યારે પણ હું ઉદાસ હોઉં છું, ત્યારૅ આ ગીતો અચૂક યાદ આવે છે, અને ફરી દિલમાં જોમ પુરાઈ જાય છે.
આજે જ્યારે હું આ બે ગીત વિશે લખવા બેઠો છું, ત્યારે એના વિશે લખવા માટે શબ્દો ઓછા પડે છે. આ બન્ને ગીત સાંભળીને જો કોઈ એક વ્યક્તિ યાદ આવે તો એ છે આપણા રાષ્ટ્રપિતા ગાંધીજી. અને આજે ૨૬મી જાન્યુઆરીએ એમનાથી સારુ સમર્પણ હું કઈ રીતે લખી શકું આ બે ગીત માટે. "એકલો જા ને રે" તો એમને ઉદ્દેશીને જ લખાયું હતું. પણ આ પોસ્ટ હું એમને અર્પણ કરું છું, જે આ જીવન જીવ્યા છે અને આત્મબળની (Inner Hero) સાક્ષાત મૂર્તી છે.
કોઇની પાસે એકલો જાને રે રેકોર્ડ કરેલ હોય તો મને મોકલવા વિનંતિ.

Ekalo Jaa ne re by Ravindranath Tagore is written for Mahatma Gandhi, commands you to Lead through your inner hero when no-one is ready to come along in most difficult situations.
These songs exemplify two cultures, two ages, but are one at very soul. They are so far, so different but still so similar.

हम करें राष्ट् आराधन्...
આજે ૨૬મી જન્યુઆરીની સવારે જ્યારે હું પરેડ યાદ કરી રહ્યો હતો ત્યારે, જયશ્રી ભક્તના બ્લોગ ટહુકો.કોમ પર આ ગીત સાંભળવાની બહુ જ મજા આવી. ત્યારે મેં આ ગીત મારા બ્લોગ પર પણ મુકવાનુ નક્કી કર્યું.
આસિત દેસાઈના અવાજ અને સંગીતમાં સ્વરબદ્ધ થયેલા આ ગીતના શબ્દો તો એકદમ ભાવપુર્ણ છે જ, ઉપરાન્ત એનો રાગ એક્દમ જોશ ઉત્પન્ન કરે છે. આ ગીત આપણને સહુને આપણી આળસ ખંખેરીને આપણા રાષ્ટ્ર અને આપણા પોતાના ઉત્થાન માટે પ્રેરીત કરે એ જ ભાવના સાથે અર્પણ!!

Simple Technology STEC
Simple Technology STEC is an example of trade where I went ahead of myself. I speculated without having any supportive data and got it wrong. I ended up loosing 8% in matter of hours because of high volume reversal before hitting my stop.What did i do wrong? First proposition was that next day STEC will break upper Borlinger and Breakout with higher volume. I based the assumption on strong tech and Nasdaq for a week. But I ignored that despire higher than average volume STEC failed to register significant price increase, and failed to break above trading channel. Second tech reversed the trend, that failed my assumption on which i was hoping breakout.
This trade also brings to light my psychological weakness. I was lured into this trade. I was watching this stock for a week and thinking I should have been into it. Feeling of having missed the train. And when it looks too promising, it is a trap. I got into the trap and became a bag holder for big money guys. I can not afford that.
Now as dumb as this sounds, because of my full time job I do program trading. So what i programmed previous night, will not correct until next night and will be executed.
Keeping the lessons in mind I should from now on refrain from speculating without supporting data. Wait for confirmation before making the trade. Be Disciplined and Be Organized.
Google vs. God
I came across a very interesting picture on web Google vs. God. I do not think picture needs a single word explaination.
Doesn't the picture scream to us about how pervasive google's influence is over the Dot.com society in which we live. Not even most conservative and remote areas are spared from its influence.
This picture reminded me of the days when i was a graduate student. The thrift days without much money. The google IPO was in the news and every expert i can remember said it was bad idea to buy google shares. And i decided that as first time buyer i should not be risking little capital I had to google shares.
Now two years has made me realize that any product that has vast acceptance, will make money. The company will figure out way to make money and stocks will surge. I still believe in google story and potential company holds. I believe that GOOG can reach 600 by 2008. I also like the management style. I know street is very apprehensive of it, but I work for startup and believe in taking calculated risks. You just have to be smart and be right 1 out of 10 times to make big and contain losses 9 other times.
My trust in their products leads me to believe in GM and INTC are good turnaround stories.
Lastly I entered google stock for a short time based on technical setup. The following chart shows the GOOG bouncing off lower borlinger before breakout providing a bull flag. I have found this to work well for short term swing trade if volume confirms.
Do I believe that Google can answer everything God can. Frankly, I don't. But can Anyone Else on earth?

INTC and AAPL
When one of my friends e-mailed me today about my opinion on Intel stock(INTC), I thought that i should start writing my opinions and analysis about stocks on blog.
I have been kicking around Idea of documenting my learning and analysis of stocks for long time, But have never got around to it. I can attribute the delay to my laziness and lack of organization. It is the same friend who told me last week that if I start writing my blog, I will become organized. Here I am experimenting.
Coming back to the topic, what do i think of Intel stock. On Wednesday, after market close Intel announced 39% decrease in profit and lowered guidance for 2007. Stock plunged nearly 5% on open next day. I think this creates a buying opportunity in the stock. I believe that over next twelve month stock will appreciate 20-25%.
I believe that Core duo product is solid and Intel also has now match for Opteron chip with 64-bit quad core Xeon. First time they are competing in Enterprise server market with a commendable product.
I also believe that management restructuring, downsizing and streamlining the focus will help intel come up with better product in short time in market. Adding their advantage in process technology over AMD, intel seems to be poised to hold the line fast for next couple of years.
I believe that risk in the trade is minimal and any retracement in price will be additional buying opportunity.
On Apple(AAPL), I think the stock has run quite a bit from last July. It is due for correction before it can move up. As seen in chart below AAPL either retrace to 50 day MA or to lower borlinger before bounce up on good volume. I believe although AAPL has solid technology and sleek products, long term outlook stays good. In short term i will wait for correction to play itself out.
